Important Information before attending courses at A.I.M.:

A 50% Deposit is required to reserve a seat in any class other than Kentucky CCDW class.

(Kentucky Concealed Carry License Class is a walk-in course but calling ahead to check availability is recommended)

All students must be legally able to purchase a firearm*. Other per-requisites to show legal status (one will suffice):

Kentucky Concealed Carry License Course (1-Day)

  • Earn your handgun concealed carry course. First step to earning your permit.
  • 20 rounds of serviceable ammunition. If you fail the first attempt, you may retake the shooting portion again if the instructor deems appropriate

Kentucky Concealed Carry License Instructor — CCDWI

This course for Kentucky residents gives you the opportunity to become a Kentucky concealed carry license course instructor.
  • KY resident 21 years old & up
  • 40 rounds minimum. Please allow some additional rounds for student-instructor lead courses of fire

Introduction to the Self Defense Handgun — DH1

Importance of Safety with firearms, terminology of Weaponcraft, maintenance, caliber importance, fundamentals of marksmanship, equipment choices. This course is designed to familiarize a new firearm owner with the functions of their new pistol. Generally, this course is given one on one with a competent, qualified firearm instructor. Weekends and weekdays are available and instructors can plan for groups up to 25 as well.
DH1 is not a prerequisite for DH2 or DH3. This course could be taken prior to taking a concealed carry license course, but it is not mandatory.

Self Defense Handgun — DH2

Introductory course for a new shooter wishing to learn the skills of the SELF-DEFENSE handgun. Our instructors take you through a day of learning to quickly and confidently aim and shoot your handgun accurately and timely, manage your handgun with reloads and malfunction clearances and other drills. Also learn what you can expect from different calibers and a very professional legal brief according to state laws.

General Handgun — DH3

This 2-day course is much the same as DH2 except an additional day of instruction to further develop the skills of the self-defense pistol. Additionally, The Color Codes of Awareness is given with a frank discussion of their importance. There are no prerequisites for DH3.

Handgun Tactics – 1 — DH-4

Safety is the focus of all courses at our campus. Once you arrive for the DH-4 be prepared for two days of intense lecture, shooting drills and other techniques. Many challenging situations arise for you to determine what should be considered threatening and what is not and how to accurately and confidently manage  life endangering encounters. DH-4 is designed to continue your self-defense education also use DH-4 as a course to stay sharp with your fundamentals. Keeping your gun running is imperative and a “range mentality” is highly discouraged during DH-4. DH-4 is a prerequisite for DH-5. You may attend a DH-4 after graduating DH-3 from The American Institute of Marksmanship or from another approved training company i.e. Gunsite, Rangemaster, Thunder Ranch or others prior to scheduling the course.
